Coffee is more than just a drink… it’s personal

It’s the often unnoticed backdrop to some of your most special and meaningful moments - the tie that binds you, your family, your friends, your memories.

When?

Coffee is often associated with an early morning hit of coffee or a drink grabbed in a rush. But it is, and can be, about so much more… hugging a mug when sharing stories with friends, a quiet point in the day when you can zone out from the hubbub or when you sit outside just taking in the early morning air, listening to bird song.

The back story

I’ve always had a thing about coffee. Growing up in London in the 70s and 80s, we didn’t have the choice we do today – but coffee has always been a common thread throughout my life. I can remember my dad’s special jar of dark roast instant coffee we used to have on Sundays. I can remember when he bought our first filter coffee machine – pure decadence. For an absolute treat, I can remember going to Importers Tea & Coffee Specialists in Bromley where you could choose from a range of coffee beans from far-away places, which were ground and turned into the freshest coffee I had ever tasted. My dad would have loved the third wave specialty choices we have today.

How?

Unlike a great bottle wine that just has to be opened to enjoy its flavour, to get the best out of coffee you have to make it. The great thing with coffee is the number of different ways you can do this. It’s not just espressos and cafetieres. There is a V60 pour-over, Aeropress, Chemex, a stovetop Moka Pot and even a Siphon. Not all these methods involve expensive bits of kit, loads of time or a technical knowledge of coffee making. They add variety to your day and you’ll find that certain coffees taste better depending on which method you use to brew them.

So go on! Do a little research and learn about the exciting world of coffee. There are no right/wrong answers. We’ll sell you the best roasted coffee and its then all about you, making coffee the way you enjoy it the most.
